Shelf Course - Half Day
On this course, the student will be making a shelf or a mantlepiece. We will teach you all about how and where we get materials. Students will be able to make their own item to take home with them.
Dimensions:
Shelf - up to 1.1 meters (up to 2 inches thick)
Mantlepiece 1.30 meters (2-3 inches thick)

What the course includes

A choice of wood

Shaping the three pieces needed for the shelf

Grinding, sanding, drilling, doweling and gluing

Fixing the keyhole shelf hangers

Oiling the finished shelf.

The tools used will include the jigsaw, the grinder, the sander, the drill, and various small hand tools.
What you will learn
All of our courses offer an opportunity to learn from John and the team about our native hardwoods, how these can be crafted into useful items, and the safe use of the tools used to do so. You don’t need any previous carpentry experience.
Courses can be arranged at your convenience and are run on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday between the hours of 11am - 5pm, April - November.
